Vera comes to Danville Redevelopment & Housing Authority with over 15 years of nonprofit experience. She has worked in non-profits focused on at-risk youth, entrepreneurship, quality childcare, and fair and low-cost housing for older adults. Her nonprofit work is deeply rooted in her belief in “being of service when and wherever you can.”
Vera is excited about her roles as the Marketing & Community Engagement Director for DRHA and the Activities Director for the Southside Community Learning Center (SCLC). She further helps to engage residents and the community by serving as the DRHA Scholarship Advancement Fund Chair. Vera focuses her energies on working collaboratively with the staff of DRHA, the housing developments, and the community to promote and bring awareness of all the resident programs and services and project-based developments of the DRHA.
Vera holds a bachelor’s in business administration from Averett University, a Duke Nonprofit Management Intensive Track Certificate, and The Danville Regional Foundation Certificate in Collaborative Leadership.
She serves on the scholarship committee of The Virginia Association of Housing And Community Development Officials (VAHCDO), she is an incoming member of the Public Affairs/ SERCulator committee for SERC / NAHRO and a board member of the Adult & Career Education Center.
When she is not working or volunteering, she enjoys reading, listening to and discovering new music, event planning, traveling, all things crafty, and playing Sims for PC.
